Furniture Designer and Craftsman
Welcome to the website of Andrew Warren. Andrew is a designer and craftsman who specialises in solid wood furniture. He has learned advanced furniture making techniques, including hand cutting dovetail joints and french polishing as well as more modern techniques such as laminating and steam bending, through working as an antique restorer and studying at Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College. He also studied design at HDK Steneby, Gothenburg University in Sweden, where he deepened his understanding of how design principles are applied in a wide variety of proffessional disciplines.
More recently Andrew has worked for furniture manufacturing companies designing, developing and producing a variety of projects from one off comissions to batch production runs that take several months to complete.

Where am I?
Andrew's degree final project was an investigation into how objects can be used to communicate emotions and atmosphere within a space. The result of the investigation was a dramatic installation containing some surprising pieces of furniture.

Balloonback Dining Chair
A dining chair designed in collaboration with a manufacturer. My aim was to create a modern take on the traditional balloonback chair.

A library chair developed after extensive research into seated posture.
The asymmetric design supports a book and allows for several sitting positions.
Maple Writing Table
A writing table with delicately shaped legs, carved and painted strechers and a hand dovetailed drawer.
'Layer Cake' Stackable Jewellery Boxes.
Three stackable hand dovetailed jewellery boxes. The laminated and painted bases also form the handles.
